SAN CLEMENTE, Ca. - San Clemente Marine Safety Officers seminar was on the beach near the San Clemente Lifeguard Station! Personnel learned defensive tactics and how to defend from various awkward positions, including inside a jeep.

AKRON, OH. - Cutting Edge Combat Inc., traveled to Ohio to conduct a two-day weapon retention and defensive tactics course. Students arrived from various fields including law enforcement, military, DT instructors and law-abiding citizens to attend the specialized course. Al Abidin conducted the training. The training included simple movements that allow officers to retain their firearms and at the same time control an attacker. The course included 6 intense hours each day and was designed for in-close combat.

August 2003

SACRAMENTO, Ca. - Cutting Edge Combat traveled to Sacramento to conduct a one-day weapon retention course for the U.S. Department of Commerce Office of Law Enforcement. Eleven agents gathered from various parts of northern California for the specialized course. Al Abidin and one of his instructors conducted the training. 'Our training included simple gross motor movements that allow officers to retain the firearms and at the same time restrain a person who attacks them', stated Al. 'These particular agents are often on ships in the middle of the ocean performing law enforcement duties, including searching for suspects in the small hallways that most ships have. We designed the course for in-close combat, so that even though the suspect may initiate a surprise attack, the officer could still respond to effectively control the suspect ', said Al.

LONG BEACH, Ca. - Kubler Al Abidin began training an undercover officer in weapon retention. Al provided the officer with a method of transitioning smoothly from lethal force into non-lethal controlling force, allowing the option of combining both, while staying in control of the firearm.
