Respond preemptively by recognizing the danger sooner, not waiting for the attacker to move.
There are no rules, only a few simple guidelines that must be quickly discarded whenever necessary to remain flexible enough to handle reality.
Don't fight dirty. Fighting dirty implies that we are breaking rules, however when we have no rules we are just taking explosive action to end an attack.

Many of Kubler Al's students have been in law enforcement, and most of them face overwhelming threats. This has given Al a close look at violence on the street and has enabled him to help his civilian students become better prepared.
