1 )“How to Increase Your Self-Defense Effectiveness by using Greater Speed and Power!”

Here are some very good exercises to help you move quicker so you’ll be more effective in defending yourself.

Start by moving one of your hands explosively toward the center of your chest. So for example if both of your hands are down at your side or up in front of you, quickly fling one of them toward the center of your chest. Try this 10 times.

Notice how this one movement causes your body to move slightly, and that the quicker and more forcefully you fling your hand toward the center of your chest, the more it causes your body to move.

Then do this flinging move again, just before you make your other hand go out to strike your target. These two moves should be performed at almost the same time. Do these moves together 10 times to be able to feel the force.

Now speed it up. Both of your hands will compete against each other. The hand that isn’t striking must move first, however the hand that is striking will try to move just as explosively as the first hand. Perform these 10 times with your left hand striking and then 10 times with your right hand striking to start increasing your speed.

It’s helpful to practice these moves in front of a mirror so you can observe your movement and quickness.

To add power to this quick move, step toward your target with your right leg, when striking with the right hand, stomping your foot just a fraction of a section after you strike your target. Doing this will bring your bodyweight forward into the strike, giving you more power. (If you are going to strike with your left hand, step toward the target with your left foot.)

I’ve put these speed builder moves together to be performed all as one move and I use them every time I strike to be able to have great quickness and power.
